I’m a political science major who graduated with honors. I was mostly in school to gain more knowledge on how the world works, and not to eventually go into law and the practice. Before that, I finished a couple of semesters at a fashion school in New York, and the teachers told me I showed much promise. After I graduated from political science, I remembered their words of advice.
They told me to practice my craft as an apprentice of a master designer, and I did. I worked and I slaved, although I was a bit ticked off that my boss took most of the credit. So I took some time off and tried my luck at other jobs. Well, I wasn’t as successful or famous as I wanted to be, but I did accumulate a big bag of tricks.
As soon as I heard about this contest that a prestigious fashion magazine was holding, I read more about it and applied. They wanted to see a whole line of haute couture summer wear from amateur designers and feature the best in an editorial spread. I looked around for models in Bloomington, Bourbonnais, Manteno, Morris, Ottawa, Fairbury, Dwight, and Streator, and a sizeable chunk of additional capital, which I got from Pontiac Title Loans. In one day, I had enough money for a couple of secondhand sewing machines and a lot of nice materials. I even hired a seamstress to work with me. Well, I didn’t win the contest, but I did get a steady flow of new clients, thanks to the speedy service I received with my Pontiac car title loan.
